Get Your Business Featured in a Business Publication

The Business Mail publishes commissioned business features: company profiles, founder stories, funding and expansion announcements and industry articles. Professionally written, permanently published and indexed by Google, from $99. This page explains exactly how it works, what it costs and where the line sits between commissioned work and our newsroom.

How this works

Two ways a company gets published here

The first is ordinary journalism. Our newsroom covers stories on merit and that coverage is not for sale. If your company does something newsworthy, send it to us and we will assess it like any other tip.

The second is a commissioned feature. Most companies have a story worth telling that will never be a breaking headline: the decade of work behind a quiet success, the reasoning behind a pivot, the detail of how a new market was entered. Those articles are written properly, published permanently, and clearly labelled as commissioned so readers always know what they are reading.

Both are real publishing. Only one is paid for, and we never blur the two.

“A commissioned feature buys the writing and the placement. It does not buy the newsroom.”

Commissioned features carry a visible label identifying them as such, in line with our editorial policy. Fees cover writing, editing and publication. They do not purchase editorial endorsement or guarantee any search result.

What we publish

The kinds of business stories that work

Company profiles

What the business does, how it got here and what it is building next, written as a piece a reader will actually finish.

Founder stories

The decisions and the reasoning behind a company. The most read format we publish, and usually the most useful.

Funding & expansion

New markets, new offices, investment rounds, partnerships and appointments, reported with the context behind them.

Product & launch features

What was launched, the problem it addresses and who it is for, without the marketing language.

Industry perspective

An informed view on where a sector is heading, attributed to a named executive within your company.

Company announcements

Straightforward statements of record, published and attributed to your organisation.

The process

How to get featured, step by step

STEP ONE

Send a brief

Tell us about the company and what should be covered. A short note is enough to start.

STEP TWO

We write it

Our editorial team writes the article in a news voice from the detail you supply.

STEP THREE

You review

You read the draft and request changes. Nothing publishes without your approval.

STEP FOUR

It publishes

The article goes live permanently, formatted for search, with indexing requested.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about getting featured

How much does it cost to get featured in a business publication?

On The Business Mail a single feature costs $99 and a three publication feature costs $299, paid once with no recurring fee. For comparison, press release distribution services typically range from around $89 to $999 per campaign, and a retained PR agency generally costs $2,000 or more per month. Our fee covers the writing, the editing and permanent publication.

Do I need to write the article myself?

No. Professional writing is included in both options. You supply the facts, the background and any quotes you want used, and our editorial team writes the article in a news voice. If you already have a draft or a press release, we are happy to work from that instead.

How long does it take to get published?

Most features are drafted within three to five working days of receiving your brief. You then review the draft and request changes. Publication follows your approval, so the overall time depends partly on how quickly you come back to us.

How long does the article stay online?

Permanently. We do not remove or archive commissioned features, and there is no renewal fee to keep an article published. Unlike an advertising campaign, it continues to be found long after it goes live.

Will the article be labelled as commissioned?

Yes. Every commissioned feature carries a visible label on the article itself. This is required by our editorial policy. It is also the reason a placement here is worth having, because a publication that hides paid content quickly stops being trusted by readers.

Do I get a backlink to my website?

Yes. Every feature links to your website. Commissioned content links are marked in line with search engine guidelines on paid links, which is standard practice for any legitimate publication and protects both your site and ours.

Can you guarantee search rankings or traffic?

No, and you should treat any publisher who guarantees rankings with caution. We format every article for search, request indexing and link to your site. Where it ranks depends on your sector, your own website and many factors outside any publisher’s control.

What is the difference between a feature and a press release?

A press release is a statement of record issued by your company and published largely as supplied. A feature is a written article that explains the context behind the news, why it matters and who it affects. Features are longer, read better and tend to hold a reader for longer.

Does paying for a feature affect your news coverage?

No. Commissioned features sit entirely apart from the newsroom. Commissioning a feature earns no preference in editorial coverage and no protection from critical reporting.

Which types of business are a good fit?

Startups establishing credibility before a raise or a launch, growing companies announcing expansion or funding, and agencies and consultants building authority in their sector. We publish businesses from any country.

Do you accept every submission?

No. We decline anything misleading or defamatory, and anything promoting unregulated financial schemes. Where we decline a commission, any fee paid is returned in full.
